Mirai Maruo is a Senior Social Development Specialist and Regional Gender Coordinator for the World Bank's South Asia Region, where she supports task teams across sectors to advance gender equality in operations. Prior to her current role, she served as a Gender Specialist in the World Bank's global Gender Department. Before joining the World Bank, she worked with the United Nations Population Fund on gender-based violence programs in Sierra Leone and Syria, and with Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on gender and women's rights.
