Mengistu Bessir is a Senior Financial Sector Specialist in Finance, Competitiveness & Investment (FCI) Global Practice. Since joining the World Bank in 2014, Mengistu has led several lending, analytical, and advisory programs covering a broad range of financial sector development topics. Mengistu has also served as a Sector Economist at IFC, where he led the Anticipated Impact Measuring and Monitoring (AIMM) assessment of financial sector projects in Central Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Currently, Mengistu works as a Senior Financial Sector Specialist based in Mongolia. An Ethiopian national, Mengistu holds M.Sc. in Economics from Addis Ababa University.
