Maria Gabriela Murcia Fonseca is an international development specialist focused on gender equality, women’s economic empowerment, and inclusive social policies. She has supported World Bank operations in West Africa, including the Liberia Women Empowerment Project and the EnABLE Project in Ghana, contributing research, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications. Her experience spans the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Oxford Policy Management, Democracy International, and several government agencies in Colombia, where she advanced national gender monitoring systems, digital inclusion programs for rural women, and economic autonomy initiatives for conflict‑affected communities. Gabriela holds a Master’s in Global Human Development from Georgetown University and a Master’s in Economics of Public Policy from the University of the Rosario. She works across English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Hebrew and is passionate about linking safety, agency, and economic opportunity for women and girls.
