Asami Okahashi has over 17 years of experience in policy advisory, project design and implementation, and technical assistance in digital government, service delivery, and smart cities. She currently leads the municipal service delivery agenda at the Digital and AI Vice Presidency. Since joining the World Bank Group, she has worked extensively on projects in Europe and Central Asia, South Asia, and Africa.
Before joining the Bank, Asami supported over 10 countries in areas of smart cities, technology use for climate and disaster resilience, water supply, and waste management at the UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub for Asia and the Pacific. In the private sector, she spearheaded business development for the technology and infrastructure sectors in Southeast Asia and Latin America.
She holds an MSc in Urban Economic Development from University College London and is fluent in English, Spanish, and Japanese.
