Alice Amegah

Young Professional

Alice Amegah is a World Bank Group (WBG) Young Professional with experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). She began her work with the World Bank Group in 2022 as an Africa Education Fellow, supporting the South Asia Education Unit. She most recently served as a STEM, TVET, and Gender Equality Consultant, working with the Global Engagement and Knowledge Unit (GEAK) and the West and Central Africa Education Unit. In this role, Alice contributed to several analytical and knowledge products. She has co-authored studies on the role of higher education institutions in advanced digital skills development in Africa, a diagnostic assessment of STEM education in Ghana, and analytical notes on youth entrepreneurship and green skills training in Sierra Leone. She also contributed to the Learning to Empower Adolescent Girls at Scale (LEAS) series, supporting the implementation of the WBG Gender Strategy (2024–2030). In her current role, Alice contributes to education and skills operations across Eastern and Southern Africa, focusing on Eswatini, Lesotho, and Botswana. Alice holds a PhD in Education and International Development from the University of Cambridge, an MSc in Comparative and International Education from the University of Oxford, and a BA in Psychology from the University of Ghana. Her research centers on advancing young women’s participation in STEM through TVET pathways, with a focus on career guidance, education pathways, and strengthening employer engagement in skills development.
