Alberto Portugal is the Senior Country Economist for Côte d’Ivoire at the World Bank. He has advised governments across Latin America, Eastern Europe, South, Central and East Asia, the Middle East, and Africa on structural reforms for growth, trade policy, investment attraction, and macro-fiscal policies. His research on related topics appears in peer reviewed journals and books. At the World Bank, his prior roles include positions in the International Trade and Regional Integration unit, the IDA Resource Mobilization Unit, and the Development Research Group (DEC). He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Geneva and a master’s in international economics from the Graduate Institute of International Studies and Development in Geneva.
